The Cast of Lie to Me

I know that Lie to Me came out a while back (2011). But if you haven't seen it, it is new to you. Kdrama don't age!
Let's get to know the cast of this drama a little better... shall we? Beware... the photos I picked, could give you too much of the "sexy".

Kang Ji-Hwan as Hyun Ki-Joon
Ki-Joon started his career in musical theater. Watching this show I have to say, I had no idea he was so skilled. He does do some singing in Lie to Me, but not enough to make me say out loud: that guy has some chops. He starred in some pretty hefty productions too, like The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I am unsure as to what role he played. But just picturing him in Frankenfurters' get-up, is enough for me.

Summer Scent 2003
Coffee House 2010
Incarnation of Money 2013

 Yoon Eun-Hye as Kong Ah-Jung

Almost everyone who watches kdrama knows Eun-hye. She has been in some majorly famous and beloved dramas (ahem... Coffee Prince). What I didn't know is that she actually debuted as a singer in the girl group Baby V.O.X. She was with that group from 1999 until 2005. Boy am I glad she left, because she is a wonderful actress. She has to best the best lead actress when it comes to kissing. She always really kisses the lead guy in whatever drama she is in. And I appreciate her for that more than she will ever know.

Coffee Prince 2007
Missing You 2012
Marry Him if You Dare 2013

Sung Joon as Hyun Sang-hee
Alright ladies... be prepared for a shocker.... Joon started out as a... gasp... model!

I know right? He is gorgeous and tall and lean, a perfect example of what a male model tends to look like. I am glad he left the modeling world though. I bet he is too. The occasional burger never hurt anyone Joon! Besides, now he falls into the realm of "model-turned-actor" which sounds awesome on a resume.

Can We Get Married? 2012
I Need Romance 3 2014
Shut Up Flower Boy Band 2012

Cho Youn-Hee as Oh Yun-Joo
If Youn-hee looks familiar to you, you have probably seen Doomsday Book or The Traffickers. Both of which were mildly successful Korean films. Or maybe you are an Eric Nam fan... She starred in his music video for Goodbye in Once Upon a Time.

My Husband Got a Family 2012
Nine: Nine Time Travels 2013

She makes a great music video star, alongside Eric Nam

Ryu Seung-Soo as Chun Jae-beom

Ryu made his acting debut waaay back in 1997. He is known for his supporting roles in both film and dramas alike. Some of his most notable movies are Hi! Dharma!, The Front Line and a western called The Good, The Bad and the Weird.

His crossover into dramaland happened when he starred in Winter Sonata. He even voiced his character in the anime version of the series.

Empire of Gold 2013
Wonderful Days 2014

Hong Soo-Hyun as Yoo So-Ran

Soo-Hyun is a stand out in Lie to Me. She really does come to life on the screen and I have a really hard time seeing her as any other character. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that she started her career as a model. She has me completely convinced that she has only ever been just an actress. Shame on me, I mean she is drop dead gorgeous, so it isn't that shocking. She just possesses wonderful comedic timing. She modeled from high school until 1999, when she acted in a Johnson & Johnson commercial. The rest is history.

Give Love Away 2013
Jang Ok-Jung, Living by Love 2013

Park Ji-Yoon as Park Ji-yun

Ji-Yoon carries herself with such poise, it isn't any wonder that she was cast as Park Ji-yun, the hard as nails assistant to the President of World Hotel.

I think her BA in Postmodern Music and MA in Entertainment in culture from Kyunghee University may have something to do with that. So not only is she a beauty, she has the brains to back it up too.

Family 2012
Pretty Man 2013

Kang Shin-Il as Kong Joon-Ho

Shin-Il has to be the greatest portrayal of a hard-working stern-yet-lovable father I have seen since Playful Kiss. I am glad to see that he has been busy starring in other dramas this year. I can't wait to watch what characters he brings to life.

Triangle 2014
God's Gift 2014
Emergency Couple 2014

There you have the cast of Lie to Me.
 Happy watching!

  1. It has been a few months since I first watched this show, but I remember it for two reasons:
    1. It was the first show in which I ever saw Sung Joon. I have since loved watching him in I Need Romance 3.
    2. The opening sequence of the Attack of the Killer Bees was probably the most memorable opening sequence of any K-Drama I have ever watched. I have never forgotten it.
I know most people talk about the Coca-Cola kiss, but that really didn't impress me all that much. But for those interested, it is in episode 8, starting at 32 minutes in.

    1. That opening sequence was hilarious. I agree, very memorable. Are the "I Need Romances" any good?

    2. I have only ever seen I Need Romance 3. I enjoyed Sung Joon's character - the perfect husband-to-be and he actually gets the girl. No Second-Lead Syndrome for him in that one.
